Who Needs Sleeping Pills When You’ve Got MNF

I LOVE Monday Night Football, but last night it just wasn’t happening. Blame it on the fact that I already knew I’d lost my fantasy game, or that my Giants Defense was so painful to watch, or that my WR Plaxico Burress was not on the same page (or even in the same book) as Eli last night. I just couldn’t watch the whole game. It was boring, frustrating and humiliating for both teams.
The Giants just weren’t playing like the Superbowl Champions we know they are. Justin Tuck was completely neutrilized during the game. The only time I heard his name was the announcers wondering why they weren’t talking about him. Eli was picked, sacked and just sucked. Plaxico reportedly had a new attitude in practice this week but he was rusty. The only 2 standouts I saw for the Giants were Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward. They actually showed up and did their job.
Now, the Cleveland Browns were a different story. Derek Anderson does not have a cannon of an arm, so how was he able to pull off that bomb to Braylon Edwards? But guys, aren’t you a bit embarassed to have more than half a dozen false start or offsides penalties in a single game at home? That is just stupid. I don’t know if it was Jaws or Kornheiser last night who pointed out that “On 2″ means Hut, Hut (Now Go!), but y’all need to get back to basics and practice your counts. And Coach, smile a little. I don’t think there was any emotion shown on Romeo Crennel’s face at anytime and he never talked. WTF? The guy looked more like the team mascot than the Head Coach.
If you didn’t catch the game last night don’t feel bad, you didn’t miss much except that another NFL elite got knocked down. It’s starting to look like this season is up for grabs. There are no sure things.
By the way, thanks Big Blue…I went from best record in my Fantasy League (4-1 going into the week) to tying for the lowest scoring team this week. On the bright side, at least I get a trophy for something.
