Shaun Alexander Is Unemployed…Again

It’s amazing how fast a star can fall…and Shaun Alexander’s surely has fallen. Going from league MVP in 2005 and signing an 8 year $63 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks in ‘06 to being released just 2 years later in April 2008. Then getting signed by the Washington Redskins in October and released in November.
During his 5 game tenure with the Redskins, Alexander got just 11 carries for 24 yards. Ouch, that is nowhere near the yardage that a former MVP should be racking up. At the age of 31 it appears that Alexander is done in the NFL. He says that he’s healthy and ready to play but clearly his production has gone down and there is no demand for an aging, injury plagued running back.
Well, I hope they didn’t sell the house in Seattle because it looks like Shaun is going back to working out with the boys at UW.
