‘Melo Goes GQ

I’m a huge Carmelo Anthony fan so when I flipped on the Nuggets game Saturday night against the Lakers and saw him I had to do a double take.  The twins have left the building in Denver.  Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony were always what I referred to as the “twins” with their braids and their tats.  Now Melo has shaved off his hair and is looking good.  My first glimpse of him was with a serious expression on his face and the new hair I thought, “wow he looks even tougher than before.”  Ok, I’ll be honest I thought he looked like  thug for the first time.

But then I watched a bit more and after getting used to the new look and seeing him smile that bright smile, I realized he looks a lot better.  His face lights up like a little kids when he smiles and the hair sets it off.  I’m not sure the reason behind the change but it’s a good one, and it seems to be making it’s way through the league.  In that game alone there were 2 other clean shaven guys… for the Lakers, Coach Phil Jackson has lost the goatee and Vladimir Radmanovic has shaved his head as well.  Maybe it’s just the sign of a new season, but maybe it means the trends are changing.
