Judge Overturns Suspensions in Minnesota

Looks like the Minnesota Vikings may get their defensive stars Kevin and Pat Williams back for Sunday’s game. A judge has temporarily blocked the suspension of the players saying he wanted more time to hear arguments but their status for Sunday is still unknown.
Hennepin County District Judge Gary Larson said “This is one of the more difficult cases I’ve had in 23 years. If I make a mistake, I’ve got to decide on a temporary basis which side I’m able to make the mistake on.”
He also stated that he expects the NFL to take it to a Federal court level in an effort to get his decision overturned and based on this statement I think he’s probably right: “There is no merit to this lawsuit and we will promptly seek to have the order reversed.”
The NFL also went on to say that this order would, “create a sideshow, disrupting the Vikings team and sending a message to other suspended players that they could file similar lawsuits.”
The NFL is simply grasping at straws here. They have suspended 6 players for using a substance that may or may not have masked other banned substances. They can’t prove what other substances these guys took so they are operating under the assumption that you are guilty until proven innocent.
It’s too bad that some good players reputations are being tainted now because of a flaw in the system and there is no ’sideshow’ being created. The Vikings locker room is standing behind these guys, so we’ll just have to see where this goes. But hey, if they are suspended for Sunday’s game does that mean there is a chance the Detroit Lions will actually win a game?
